Just wanted to give an update on what NAfME has been up to so far this year (and the school year hasn't even started!) The new student buddy system has been up and running for a few days. If you're a returning student who has a buddy, please email your new student buddy soon! The officers have sent out (or will very soon) personal emails inviting the new students to join NAfME.
What's in the works at the moment:
- A welcome back barbecue! Date and location tba
- A Panda Express fundraiser in Stamp. Date tba
What's in the works for the Fall 2012 semester:
- At least one workshop for music education students on some of these topics:
- Instrument repair
- Jazz music education
- Diverse learning styles in the classroom
- And more! Please feel free to suggest topics!
- Attendance at the Fall in-service conference day on October 19
- At least one community service event
What's in the works for the 2012-2013 year:
- T-Shirt fundraiser (we have an awesome design that we will unveil later in the process!)
We are so excited to get the entire chapter involved in planning and executing these events! If you are particularly interested in helping with any of the above activities, please let any of the officers know!
